Beyond its landscapes and Inca ruins, one of the most memorable ways to experience Cusco is through its traditional festivals.

Combining ancestral rituals and colonial influences, the celebrations of the former Inca capital offer a unique opportunity to connect with local culture, music and gastronomy. These are the most iconic festivals of 2025 and how to enjoy them up close.

The most iconic festivals

Three celebrations that bring the faith, history and joy of the Andes together in a single year.

Inti Raymi · June 24

Cusco’s largest celebration, held during the winter solstice in honor of Inti, the Inca sun god.

It takes place at Qoricancha, the Plaza de Armas and Sacsayhuamán. Arrive early or reserve a seated area at Sacsayhuamán for the best view.

Corpus Christi · May or June

This majestic procession brings together 15 saints and Madonnas from different districts through the historic center.

Expect marching bands, richly decorated saints and traditional dances. Do not miss chiriuchu, the typical festival dish.

Holy Week · March 2025

At Easter, Cusco becomes a place of reflection with solemn processions and streets illuminated by candles.

The highlight is the procession of the Señor de los Temblores, Cusco’s patron saint. Be respectful: avoid flash photography and dress appropriately.
