Cusco, historical capital of the Inca Empire

Welcome to Cusco, the historical capital of Peru. Upon your arrival at the airport, our team will be waiting to give you a warm welcome and take you, in private transport, to your hotel in the city center.

You will have the rest of the day free to rest and acclimatize to the altitude (3,399 m.a.s.l.) before the adventure begins.

Sacred Valley tour: Pisac and Ollantaytambo

Sacred Valley Tour: Breakfast at the hotel. Around 8:00 a.m. we will begin a full-day tour of the Sacred Valley.

Pisac: a town famous for its artisan market and its impressive Inca archaeological site, with an irrigation system, astronomical observatory, solar clock or "Intiwatana" and extensive agricultural terraces.

Lunch buffet at a local restaurant with a variety of Peruvian dishes. Then we will explore Ollantaytambo, an ancient Inca military, religious and residential center, with a great temple, terraces and urban areas.

Train to Aguas Calientes: you will board the train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes, where you will spend the night getting ready for your visit to Machu Picchu.

Excursion to Machu Picchu, the Lost City of the Incas

Machu Picchu Tour: Early in the morning you will board the bus for your guided visit to Machu Picchu, the "Lost City of the Incas", one of the most impressive archaeological sites in the world. Built in the 15th century during the height of the Inca Empire, it was discovered by Hiram Bingham in 1911, although its original purpose remains a mystery.

Explore the ruins accompanied by your expert local guide and, as you walk among the ancient stone walls, imagine what life might have been like in this majestic citadel, located about 8,000 feet above sea level.

In the afternoon, return by train to Cusco. Upon arrival, you will be received and transferred to your hotel.

Bus tour from Cusco to Puno across the highlands

Cusco – Puno bus tour: we will pick you up at 6:30 a.m. to begin the journey to Puno, with visits to four fascinating historical sites: Andahuaylillas, known as the "Sistine Chapel of South America"; Raqchi (Temple of the god Wiracocha), a great Inca temple 100 meters long; La Raya (4,300 m.a.s.l.), the highest point of the route and the border between the Quechua and Aymara cultures; and Pukará, the oldest and most important ceremonial center of the Altiplano.

We expect to arrive in Puno around 5:00 p.m., where you will be transferred to your hotel.

Excursion to the Uros and Taquile Islands

Early in the morning we will take you to the port to board a boat for your full-day excursion on Lake Titicaca. Your first stop will be the famous Uros Floating Islands, at 3,810 m.a.s.l., built entirely from totora reeds and inhabited by the Uros people, who preserve their ancient traditions.

Next you will visit Taquile Island, known for its intricate handwoven textiles, recognized by UNESCO as a masterpiece of the oral and intangible heritage of humanity. Return to Puno in the afternoon.

Transfer from Puno to Juliaca airport

After breakfast, we will pick you up at the scheduled time and take you to the Juliaca airport (approx. 1 h 30 min) for your return flight to Lima.

Frequently asked questions

Before your Andean adventure

Tour cancellations due to bad weather are not refundable, as they are factors beyond our control.

According to the latest policies of the Dirección Desconcentrada de Cultura de Cusco (DDC), all Machu Picchu entrance tickets are personal. Therefore, they cannot be rescheduled, transferred or refunded.

The train company that takes you to Machu Picchu does not allow luggage larger than 5 kg. Most travelers carry only a small backpack for Aguas Calientes and Machu Picchu. You can leave the rest of your luggage at your hotel's storage in Cusco at no extra cost.

Peru Rail and Inca Rail do not allow seat selection. Seats are assigned automatically by the system.

The Expedition Train is the standard category with comfortable seats and panoramic windows. The Vistadome Train adds glass roof and sides that let you appreciate the Sacred Valley landscape in its full dimension, as well as panoramic windows in the aisles.

It is not mandatory for those visiting the cultural region (Cusco, Machu Picchu and Puno). However, it is recommended for those traveling to the Peruvian Amazon rainforest.

The standard voltage in Peru is 230V. Some hotels offer 110V plugs with transformers on request.

US dollars and soles are accepted in Peru. The ideal is to bring dollars and exchange them at safe exchange offices within the country, preferably recommended by your travel agency.

There are two main seasons: the rainy season (November to March) and the dry season (April to October). In Cusco and Machu Picchu, temperatures range between 0°C and 24°C. In Puno, temperatures can drop to -5°C during winter nights.
