Cusco at Your Reach: welcome in the city of Cusco

Welcome to the city of Cusco by our staff and transfer to your selected hotel to check in and rest. Free afternoon to acclimatize to the altitude (3,400 m.a.s.l.) and get ready for the rest of the package.

Machu Picchu excursion on the Expedition train

Early in the morning, transfer to the train station to board the train bound for the town of Aguas Calientes. With the guide, you will take the bus that in about 30 minutes takes you to the entrance of the Machu Picchu citadel.

You will take the guided visit of approximately 2 h 30 min to discover all the magnificence of the enigmatic Inca citadel. After the tour, bus back to Aguas Calientes and check in at the station 30 minutes before the departure of the return train. Return to Cusco, reception and transfer to the hotel.

Before your trip to Cusco

Tour cancellations due to bad weather are not refundable, as they are factors beyond our control.

According to the policies of the Dirección Desconcentrada de Cultura de Cusco (DDC), all Machu Picchu entrance tickets are personal: they cannot be rescheduled, transferred or refunded.

The train company does not allow luggage larger than 5 kg. The ideal is to carry only a small backpack for Aguas Calientes and Machu Picchu; you can leave the rest of your luggage at your hotel's storage in Cusco at no extra cost.

Peru Rail and Inca Rail do not allow seat selection: seats are assigned automatically by the system.

We recommend taking the Expedition or Voyager train on the outbound journey and the Vistadome or 360° panoramic train on the return, to enjoy better views without missing the visit to Ollantaytambo.

It is not mandatory for those visiting the cultural region (Cusco and Machu Picchu). However, it is recommended for those traveling to the Peruvian Amazon rainforest.

The standard voltage in Peru is 230V. Some hotels offer 110V plugs with transformers on request.

US dollars and soles are accepted in Peru. The ideal is to bring dollars and exchange them at safe exchange offices within the country, preferably recommended by your travel agency.

There are two main seasons: the rainy season (November to March) and the dry season (April to October). In Cusco and Machu Picchu, temperatures range between 0°C and 24°C; in Lima, between 12°C and 35°C.
