City Tour through Cusco and archaeological sites

On your arrival at Cusco airport, a representative will be waiting for you to transfer you to your hotel, help you with the check-in and give you a brief orientation about the city.

PM (approx. 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm): The guided tour of the city begins, visiting the Cathedral of Cusco and the Qoricancha (Temple of the Sun), today the Santo Domingo Convent. The tour continues to the outskirts to explore Sacsayhuamán, the fortress known as the "head of the puma"; Q'enqo, a religious site with labyrinthine passages; Puca Pucara, a reddish military checkpoint, and Tambomachay, the "Temple of Water".

Sacred Valley of the Incas: Ollantaytambo

After breakfast, you are picked up from your hotel for the full-day excursion through the Sacred Valley of the Incas. You start in Pisac, famous for its artisan market and its archaeological complex with agricultural terraces, an astronomical observatory and the solar clock (Intiwatana).

You enjoy a buffet lunch at a local restaurant and continue to Ollantaytambo, the fortress with temples, terraces and a well-planned urban sector that was a religious and military center.

In the afternoon, you board the train that takes you to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo), where you spend the night in a tourist hotel.

Machu Picchu, the Lost City of the Incas

Early, a tourist bus takes you up the jungle-edge road to the entrance of the Machu Picchu Sanctuary, the "Lost City of the Incas".

With views over the Urubamba river, this 15th-century citadel was built during the peak of the Inca Empire. Although it was revealed to the world in 1911 by Hiram Bingham, locals had known of its existence for a long time. Its original purpose remains a mystery.

Explore the ruins with your expert local guide at approximately 2,400 m.a.s.l. In the afternoon, return by train to Cusco; on arrival, reception and transfer to your hotel.

Salt mines of Maras and terraces of Moray in Cusco

Half-day excursion to the town of Maras, famous for its more than 3,000 pre-Hispanic salt pools that take advantage of a saline spring at more than 3,000 m.a.s.l. Thousands of white terraces cascade down the slope of the Qaqawiñay hill.

Then you visit Moray, a set of concentric circular terraces descending in levels. The Incas used it as an agricultural experimentation center at different altitudes.

Return to Cusco and lodging at your hotel.

Before your tour to Machu Picchu

Tour cancellations due to bad weather are not refundable, as they are factors beyond our control.

According to the latest policies of the Dirección Desconcentrada de Cultura de Cusco (DDC), all Machu Picchu entrance tickets are personal. Therefore, they cannot be rescheduled, transferred or refunded.

The train company that takes you to Machu Picchu does not allow luggage heavier than 5 kg. Most travelers carry only a small backpack for Aguas Calientes and Machu Picchu. The rest of your luggage can be left in your hotel storage in Cusco at no extra cost.

Yes. The tour includes private transfers with a Spanish- or English-speaking assistant from Cusco airport to your hotel, to and from the train station, and back to the airport for your flight to Lima.

We recommend taking the Expedition or Voyager train on the way there and the Vistadome or 360° panoramic train on the return, to enjoy better views.
