Before your great journey
Tour cancellations due to bad weather are not refundable, as they are factors beyond our control.
According to the policies of the Dirección Desconcentrada de Cultura de Cusco (DDC), all Machu Picchu entry tickets are personal: they are not reschedulable, transferable or refundable.
The train company does not allow luggage heavier than 5 kg. The ideal is to take only a small backpack for Aguas Calientes and Machu Picchu; the rest of your luggage can be left in your hotel's storage in Cusco at no additional cost.
Peru Rail and Inca Rail do not allow seat selection: assignment is done automatically in the system.
We recommend taking the Expedition or Voyager train on the way there and the Vistadome or 360° panoramic train on the way back, to enjoy better views without missing the visit.
The stay at the Amazon lodge includes accommodation, all meals and guided activities: exploration hikes, boat rides, piranha fishing, dolphin and bird watching, and night jungle excursions.
It is not mandatory for those visiting only the cultural region (Cusco and Machu Picchu). However, it is recommended to get vaccinated at least 10 days before for those traveling to the Peruvian Amazon jungle, such as Iquitos.
The standard voltage in Peru is 230V. Some hotels offer 110V outlets with transformers on request.
In Peru, US dollars and soles are accepted. The ideal is to bring dollars and exchange them at safe exchange houses in the country, preferably recommended by your travel agency.
There are two main seasons: the rainy season (November to March) and the dry season (April to October). In Cusco and Machu Picchu temperatures range between 0°C and 24°C; in the Iquitos jungle, between 25°C and 35°C with high humidity.
