Please note that this route is less demanding than the traditional one via Pitumarca and Kayrawiry. We pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at 3:30 a.m. to start the journey southeast, passing through Cusipata (3,339 m.a.s.l.) and then toward the town of Llactoc.
Here your hike begins, passing herds of alpacas and llamas and native Andean flora. The hike lasts approximately two and a half hours and offers impressive views of snow-capped mountains and colorful landscapes.
At the summit of the Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca) you have around an hour to admire the landscape. The descent takes about 90 minutes to Llactoc, then a delicious traditional lunch in Cusipata and return to Cusco around 5:00 p.m.

Before your Rainbow Mountain
Tour cancellations due to bad weather are not refundable, as they are factors beyond our control.
The hike from Llactoc takes approximately two and a half hours up and one and a half hours down, with the summit at 5,200 m.a.s.l. It is considered easy to moderate difficulty and is done at a steady pace to help acclimatization.
We recommend arriving in Cusco at least one day before to acclimatize, stay hydrated, avoid heavy meals and walk at a steady pace. The tour includes a basic breakfast and traditional lunch, with permanent assistance during the route.
Horse and trekking pole rental is not included in the tour, but it is available at the starting point of the hike in Llactoc for an additional cost.
Bring warm, layered clothing, a hat, sunscreen, water, a small backpack and cash in soles for extras (horses or poles). Mountain weather changes fast: intense sun and cold with possible rain.
